Olympic Silver Medalist Nelson “The Cheetah” Vails Set to Come to Rochester

Hailing from Harlem, New York Nelson “The Cheetah” Vails rode his way to become the first African-American to win an Olympic medal in cycling. Representing Team USA in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California, Vails won the silver medal in the cycling sprint.
